清水寺 :Kiyomizu dera
Kiyomizu dera temple is Buddhist temple of Hosso sect. The temple was built in 798 and was enlarged and renamed Kiyomizu temple in 805. The temple was reconstructed under the patronage of Tokugawa Iemitsu. The temple was added to The UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994. The temple is known for its unique architectural style. Its main hall stands on a cliff, supported with a wooden platform in front.
